SEO Competitor Analysis Service
How-To Guide

How to Use the SEO Competitor Comparison Tool

The tool analyzes two addresses at the same time and shows the results side by side. Four steps and two small tips are all you need for a reliable result.

1. Enter Your Site

Type your site's address into the "Your site" field. If you want to compare home pages, the domain name is enough.

2. Enter Your Competitor

Type your competitor's address into the "Your competitor" field. Only public pages are inspected; pages that require a login cannot be analyzed.

3. Compare

Press "Compare". Both sites go through more than 40 SEO checks and a Google PageSpeed measurement in parallel, which can take 30–60 seconds.

4. Read the Result

You see the overall scores, the points lost in each area, the mobile speed score and the issues found on only one side, all side by side. You can also open the detailed report for each site.

Choose the right competitor

  • Pick the site that appears on the same results page as you for the searches you target. Search for your target keyword on Google and look at the relevant site among the top results.
  • Do not look only at giant brands; competitors closer to your own size give you a more achievable roadmap.
  • Compare several competitors one by one; differences that repeat across all of them are usually the most meaningful for you.

Compare the same type of page

  • Compare a home page with a home page, a product page with a product page and a blog post with a blog post.
  • Pages of different types (for example, your home page against a competitor's blog post) produce misleading differences.
  • The tool analyzes the address you enter; before drawing conclusions about a whole site, try a few important pages one by one.
Interpretation

How to Interpret the Results

The result screen is read in four layers. Each layer answers a different question, and looking at all of them together tells you far more than a single score.

Score Gap

The two rings at the top show each site's overall score from 0 to 100, and the verdict line states the gap in points. A gap of a few points is often not decisive; what matters is which areas the gap comes from.

Speed Gap

The table places the mobile speed score (Google PageSpeed) of both sites side by side. If the gap is clear, it makes sense to look at image sizes, unnecessary scripts and server response time. A PageSpeed score is a lab measurement, so small fluctuations between runs are normal.

Meta Tags

In the meta tags row, missing, very short or very long tags such as the title and meta description cost points. If your competitor is ahead here, you are looking at one of the easiest opportunities to fix.

Technical Signals

Areas such as crawlability (robots.txt, sitemap), indexability, canonical, structured data, security and mobile compatibility appear in separate rows. Issues that only you have are listed separately.

Look at these first

  • Issues that could prevent the page from being crawled or indexed.
  • Issues that only you have and that show a high point loss in the list.
  • A clear mobile speed gap between you and your competitor.
  • A missing or faulty title and meta description.

What you can safely deprioritize

  • Small gaps of a point or two.
  • Items where your competitor is ahead but that matter little for your goal; for example, if you focus only on organic search, social sharing tags can wait.
  • Momentary fluctuations in a single speed measurement; run the tool a few times before deciding.

A single score is not a ranking guarantee. This tool measures technical SEO, page speed and on-page signals; it does not measure backlink counts, traffic estimates, keyword rankings or content quality. A higher score for your competitor does not mean it will rank above you, and a rising score for you does not mean your rankings will improve.

Next Step

What to Do After a Competitor Comparison

The comparison helps you build a roadmap. Instead of trying to fix everything at once, follow this order.

1. Quick Wins

Start with work that takes little effort, such as title and meta description fixes, missing image descriptions and broken links. These are both fast and low-risk.

2. Technical Fixes

Then move on to technical items such as robots.txt, sitemap, canonical, structured data and page speed. These may need developer support, so put the highest-impact ones first.

3. Content and Authority

Once the technical gaps are closed, what usually remains is a gap in content, keywords and authority. These areas are outside what this tool measures and need a separate analysis.

First, inspect your own site in depth

This tool compares two pages. To see the technical condition of your own site in more detail, you can run the free SEO Site Analysis tool. Watch Out

Common Mistakes

The comparison tool is useful when used correctly; the mistakes below can lead you to misread the result.

What to avoid

  • Comparing different types of page. Comparing your home page with a competitor's category or blog page produces differences that mean nothing.
  • Looking only at the overall score. The score is a summary; the real value lies in the area-by-area differences and the list of issues only you have.
  • Choosing the wrong competitor. A site you do not compete with in the same searches, or one of a very different size, does not show you a path you can follow.
  • Deciding from a single measurement. Page speed measurements can fluctuate; base your decision on several runs.
  • Not measuring again after fixes. After making changes, repeat the same comparison and check the effect.
Frequently Wondered

SEO Competitor Comparison Frequently Asked Questions

Read the answers to common questions about what the tool measures, how to read the results and where its limits are.

How do I do a competitor analysis?

First identify the competitor that appears on the same results page as you for your target searches. Then enter your site's address and your competitor's address into this tool; both pages are analyzed with the same checks and the differences in score, speed and individual areas are shown side by side. To examine keywords and content, you need a separate, more comprehensive competitor analysis.

How can I see a competitor's SEO score?

Just type your competitor's address into the "Your competitor" field. The site is analyzed together with yours, and its overall score is shown at the very top of the result screen. This score is calculated from the tool's own checks; it is not a score given by Google.

Can I see my competitor's traffic or backlink count?

No. This tool compares technical SEO, page speed and on-page signals; it does not provide traffic, ranking, keyword or backlink data. A comprehensive SEO competitor analysis service is a better route for those topics.

Is the SEO competitor comparison tool free?

Yes, you can use it for free. You only need to enter two public page addresses, and the comparison usually finishes within 30–60 seconds.

What should I do if my competitor's score is higher than mine?

First look at which areas the gap comes from. Prioritize the issues that only you have: start with quick wins, move on to technical fixes and then to content. A score gap alone is not a ranking guarantee, so treat the fixes as a roadmap.

Does the comparison inspect the entire site?

No, the tool analyzes only the page at the address you enter. To get an idea of a site's overall condition, it is better to compare important pages such as the home page, a category page and a product page one by one.
